Depending on the clan into which vampires are embraced, they automatically 'inherit' three core disciplines. Your vampire character may only have their specified disciplines as outlined below for your reference:
Ventrue: Dominate, Fortitude, Presence Tremere: Auspex, Dominate, Thaumaturgy (No Path of Blood) Toreador: Auspex, Celerity, Presence Gangrel: Animalism, Fortitude, Protean Nosferatu: Animalism, Obfuscate, Potence Malkavian: Auspex, Dominate or Dementation (see below), Obfuscate ** Brujah: Celerity, Potence, Presence Giovanni: Dominate, Necromancy, Potence Lasombra: Dominate, Obtenebration, Potence Tzimisce: Animalism, Auspex, Vicissitude*** Followers of Set: Obfuscate, Presence, Serpentis ** Please note that Malkavians who joined the Camarilla lost the use of Dementation for more than 500 years; the reasons are unknown. During this time, Dominate replaced Dementation as one of the clan's primary disciplines. However, the Sabbat, Anarch and Independent Malkavians retained the use of Dementation. This Camarilla-based change to Dominate lasted until 1997, when a wave of renewed madness spread throughout the Malkavian clan and Dementation was once again restored. Therefore, if you are Malkavian: You will have Dominate INSTEAD OF Dementation if: 1. Your Malkavian character belongs to the Camarilla AND 2. They were embraced more than 10 years ago. You will have Dementation INSTEAD OF Dominate if: 1. Your Malkavian character belongs to the Anarchs, Sabbat or Independent sects, regardless of age. ***In order to preserve the purpose of this site (to have fun); vicissitude has been altered so that vampires may heal from alterations as they would aggravated damage, rather than changes being permanent (Reiko) All references to "Clans," "Disciplines," their respective names and all information contained herein or anyplace on this board are © 1990-2003 White Wolf Publishing, Inc. Regarding Discipline Usage:
Generation 13 - You are proficient in all level 1s with a chance to hit a level 2 now and then. Generation 12 - You are proficient in all level 2s with a chance to hit a level 3 now and then. Generation 11 - You are proficient in all level 3s with a chance to hit a level 4 now and then. Generation 10 - You are proficient in all level 4s with a chance to hit a level 5 now and then. Generation 9 - You are proficient in all level 5s with a chance to hit a level 6 now and then. What does this mean? Well.. it can mean two things: 1. You can give yourself the same level across the board and roll a dice to see if you hit the next level during a fight; OR 2. You can give yourself the same level in two disciplines and the next level in ONE discipline of your choice. EXAMPLE: Let's say you are an 11th Gen Toreador. Your stats would either be: Presence: 3 Auspex: 3 Celerity: 3 with a dice roll during fights to see if you can hit a level 4 in any of the three disciplines OR Presence: 4 Auspex: 3 Celerity: 3 (whichever disc you choose to make 4). -------------------- 9th Generation: Auspex 5, Presence 5, Celerity 5
