Hi folks.
Okay, clearly there is an abundance of confusion about the plot, the reset, etc., so here I am, your friendly neighborhood ST, to sort through the mess for you, my dear players. So What's All This RESET Jive? Due to players leaving, taking leaves of absence and many of the threads being left hanging, I decided that doing a partial* reset was necessary -- as opposed to a full reset. I chose partial over full because I really feel the bombing of the Prince and the Blood Farm have great potential. How Does This Plot Stuff Work, Man? *rubs hands together* Okay, so the main premise of the plot will always appear in the gold, scrolling text at the top of the board. It's the very base of what's happened. The idea is for you, dear players, to take this information and roleplay your character how they would react to the current events. Up until now, it's been more common than not that people sort of just hang out and talk without much action or reaction to what's going on. Some of you have mentioned that they don't see "Plot threads" or don't know how to get involved, but to be honest, every thread should be plot related for the most part, even if it's discussion. This opens it up for someone to overhear and trouble to start, etc. This is the analogy I use: Imagine that CNN just announced that there is a huge comet headed to earth that could wipe out half the population. There's a 50/50 chance it will hit. Most likely, just like the events of 9/11, it's going to be on everyone's mind. What to do, how to act, where to go, etc. No matter if you're waiting for the bus, in a bar, in a coffee shop or with your lover, you will be talking about it and/or hearing talk about it. The bombings should be looked at as the vampiric 9/11 and your chars should be acting as if it really was an E.L.E. (extinction level event). Every single post should be approached with this in mind and everyone wants revenge and/or justice for something. Secondly, I have noticed that people are getting far too worked up about minute details. Take for example the "Fun Thread" Aleister posted. I just thought that this would be a good way to explain some things I have in mind for down the road, so I figured that I could just use the event itself as explanation. Not to take away from the fun, but to give reasoning behind what I had planned. Questions started popping up about what to do with characters and who knew whom and so forth. I can understand how this may be confusing, but these things are what the ST and staff work out. Just go with the flow and have faith that it will make sense in the end. It is important for everyone to keep in mind that this is a storytelling board driven by plots. Not to sound patronizing, but it is not meant to be a complete story worked out from beginning to end with you all roleplaying a script. Many times I don't even know what will happen down the road, I just come up with ideas as things progress. Perhaps the prelogue idea doesn’t make sense now, but it WILL once we get further into it. Please don't get overly concerned about every little detail as that takes the element of surprise out of things, which is the main point! Just like in tabletop where the ST tells you there is a locked door, you don’t know IF you can pick the lock or what's behind it until you open it. The same happens here. If I tell you everything that's going to happen before it happens, where's the fun in that? The idea is for you to go through the door and deal with what's on the other side. This Discipline Crap Is SO Damn Confusing! No guys, it really isn't. Until I can find the time to re-write the rules and make an FAQ list, this is how the disciplines have ALWAYS worked: Generation 13 - You are proficient in all level 1s with a chance to hit a level 2 now and then. Generation 12 - You are proficient in all level 2s with a chance to hit a level 3 now and then. Generation 11 - You are proficient in all level 3s with a chance to hit a level 4 now and then. Generation 10 - You are proficient in all level 4s with a chance to hit a level 5 now and then. Generation 9 - You are proficient in all level 5s with a chance to hit a level 6 now and then. What does this mean? Well.. it can mean two things: 1. You can give yourself the same level across the board and roll a dice to see if you hit the next level during a fight; OR 2. You can give yourself the same level in two disciplines and the next level in ONE discipline of your choice. EXAMPLE: Let's say you are an 11th Gen Toreador. Your stats would either be: Presence: 3 Auspex: 3 Celerity: 3 with a dice roll during fights to see if you can hit a level 4 in any of the three disciplines OR Presence: 4 Auspex: 3 Celerity: 3 (whichever disc you choose to make 4). DEFINITIONS: Full Reset: Everything regarding past plots is wiped clean and a new plot is put in place. Nothing that happened in the past, including who knew each other IC, etc. carries over to the new plot. Think of it as the board just opening. Characters are allowed to tweak their biographies in terms of sect. Other changes must be discussed with the Staff. *Partial Reset: Plots with potential are kept in place as well as character's relationships with one another, i.e. acquaintances, friends, lovers, enemies, etc. Some plots are discarded due to lack of interest, people leaving, etc. Characters are allowed to tweak their biographies in terms of sect. Other changes must be discussed with the Staff. Hope this helps! Please reply to the "I Have Read & Understand" thread in OOC so we all know everyone has seen this. Thanks. Tyr -------------------- 9th Generation: Auspex 5, Presence 5, Celerity 5
